Bart’s career in law enforcement spans more than two decades, with experience across nearly every level of the Sheriff’s Office. From patrol to investigations to leadership roles, he’s built the knowledge, judgment, and perspective needed to lead with confidence and serve Washburn County with purpose.
From the ground level to leadership roles, every step of Bart’s career has prepared him to lead the Washburn County Sheriff’s Office with experience and integrity.
2005-2011
Jailer & Dispatcher
Bart began his career with the Washburn County Sheriff’s Office as a Jailer and Dispatcher, building a strong foundation in communication, operations, and the day-to-day responsibilities of keeping the community safe. Even after becoming a certified officer, he continued serving in this role full-time while expanding into patrol duties.
2008-2011
Patrol Officer
After becoming a state-certified law enforcement officer in 2008, Bart began serving in a part-time patrol capacity for the Washburn County Sheriff’s Office and Spooner Police Department. This dual role gave him hands-on experience in the field while continuing his work inside the jail, providing a well-rounded understanding of law enforcement operations.
2010-2020
Special Response Team
Bart served for 10 years on the Washburn County Special Response Team, ultimately earning the role of Team Leader. In this position, he handled high-risk situations and led coordinated responses requiring precision, training, and trust.
2011-2016
Patrol Deputy
In 2011, Bart transitioned to a full-time Patrol Deputy role, primarily serving northern Washburn County. He built strong relationships by attending local meetings, listening to residents, and responding directly to community needs.
2014
Field Training Program Development
Bart played a key role in developing and implementing the Sheriff’s Office Field Training Officer program, helping ensure new deputies are properly trained, prepared, and supported from day one.
2016-Present
Investigator
As an Investigator, Bart handles complex cases and works closely with victims, witnesses, and regional law enforcement agencies. His work has led to successful prosecutions and demonstrates his commitment to accountability, communication, and justice.
